How to Make Money Online Selling Products for Other People

Did you know you can make money online, selling products, without ever having to touch the product at all? One of the chief online business models is affiliate marketing, where you sell other people’s products in exchange for a commission. The commission can be anywhere from half a percent, all the way up to seventy-five percent, depending on the product.
Many products for sale are owned by individual merchants. This is especially true for software and information products such as ebooks, instructional videos, etc. Clickbank.com is an outlet for hundreds of information products owned by individuals (or, technically speaking, the companies they own).
Information products, software, membership sites, and e-courses owned by individuals are some of the highest-commission products you can sell. E-books typically sell from $47-$57 (and occasionally even $97 or more) and usually offer 50%-75% commissions! Many affiliate marketers make money online solely through selling e-books, videos, and membership subscriptions for others.
But you can also make good money selling physical products as well. You can do this by selling a single company’s products (Apple, for example, or Dell). or you can affiliate with a company like Wal-Mart or Best Buy, and earn a commission on multiple products.
How do you become an affiliate and earn money online? Occasionally you will contact a merchant directly to ask to be an affiliate. More often, however, you will need to join an affiliate network.
For example, Clickbank handles a variety of downloadable products. Most of these are information products in the form of e-books. Once you are cleared for an account, you can create an affiliate link to any of their products and start earning a commission!
Companies like Best Buy and Apple let Commission Junction (cj) handle their affiliate programs. You first sign up for an account with Commission Junction, and then sign up for each individual affiliate program. You’ll often need your own website, or at least a couple of web pages or a blog, to get approved for these programs.
Amazon.com was one of the first large companies to have its own affiliate program. You don’t have to go through any network to sign up with it. All you need to do is sign up at Amazon’s website.
Selling through Amazon is a great way to make money online. The company sells much more than just books. It sells music, toys, computers, television sets–just about any consumer item you can think of! It also has the added benefit that people trust the company and feel totally secure buying from them.
People will shop online for pretty much anything they can find offline–and they’re doing it more and more all the time. Add to this the fact that there are many products available on the Web that you just can’t find anywhere else, and you’ll see why selling other people’s products can be so profitable!
